Kelsea Ballerini disclosed how she felt during her divorce from Morgan Evans and how she feels now.
After a year of being single, Kelsea Ballerini has discovered “peace” in her decision to divorce.
“This time last year, my life felt very out of control. A bit messy,” Ballerini told Nylon in an interview. “I just felt in the weeds in a lot of things.”
After giving careful consideration to what she was going to say, the Mountain With a View singer stated, “I can truly, from my guts, say I regret literally nothing. I really don’t.”
In August 2022, Ballerini announced her separation from Evans, 38, after nearly five years of marriage. In November of that same year, their divorce was finalized.
The singer remarked on Tuesday that her separation from Evans caused “a lot of conservative Karens to be very upset.”
She recalled feeling “terrified” after reading social media comments that implied she hadn’t done enough to save her marriage.
“I have spent so much of my life contorting myself to be palatable for everyone. I thought that made me a good woman. I thought that made me a good artist. However, it does not make me a good person,” Ballerini stated.
“I care way more about being able to sleep at night knowing that I’m showing up for myself and what I believe in and the things that make my heart beat. And I’m not meant for everyone.”
The Half of My Hometown singer stated, “I’m sleeping better than I ever have,” while admitting that the “people-pleaser” in her still has a “really hard time when there’s very loud hate.”
