Coeur d’Alene Arts and Culture Alliance partnering with Companions Animal Center for Sept. 13 ArtWalk

The Coeur d’Alene Arts and Culture Alliance will partner with Companions Animal Center for a special ArtWalk event Friday, Sept. 13.

ArtWalk takes place the second Friday of every month from 5 to 8 p.m. The free event features local artists and musicians in galleries and storefronts throughout downtown Coeur d’Alene.

This month, in addition to art exhibits, live music and art demonstrations, attendees will have opportunities to interact with dogs currently up for adoption. This collaboration aims to bring together the community through a shared love of art, culture and four-legged friends.

Companions Animal Center pups will be stationed across eight different locations on the ArtWalk map, accompanied by knowledgeable volunteers who can provide information about each dog’s personality, breed and background.

Visitors will see DNA results for each dog, giving them a better understanding of their unique traits and characteristics. As well as learning about the dogs available for adoption, ArtWalk attendees can also explore the hub of the event in the parking lot space between the Art Spirit Gallery and Magpie boutique.

On site will be pop-up vendor Joe Beans Barkery, photo exhibit “Canine Bridge” and information on ways to support the cause. Whether it’s through training classes, donations or volunteering opportunities, animal lovers have plenty of ways to get involved and make a difference.

The nonprofit Companions Animal Center is dedicated to rescuing and rehoming dogs and cats (and rabbits!) in the Coeur d’Alene area. The shelter rescues and adopts thousands of pets each year. Its no-kill philosophy means time limits are never placed on how long cats, dogs and other pets stay at the center.

Visit artsandculturecda.org to see the ArtWalk map and features at each location. Dogs will be at Century 21 Beutler and Associates, Mix it Up, Mountain Madness Soap, the Human Rights Education Institute, Tomlinson Sotheby’s, the Art Spirit Gallery, Magpie and All Things Irish.

Basil, a Bernese mountain dog/pit bull mix, was recently posted as a dog in need of a forever home on Companions Animal Center’s social media. The Coeur d’Alene Arts and Culture Alliance will partner with Companions for a special Sept. 13 ArtWalk.
