Born This Way: Finally, An Explanation For Why Bold & Beautiful’s Ridge Can’t Help Being a Jerk

Hello! My name is Jennifer, I’m a Virgo and I’ve been practicing and studying Astrology for over 20 years. Recently my friends at Soaps.com asked me if we could have some fun with astrology and look at various character birthdays to see how that influences performance and story. Of course, I said “Yes!”

But before we get started with our first subject, I would like to say a few things about the Astrology you’ll see here:

  • While astrology as a whole is far more than just your sun sign, that is what we will be looking at. Meaning, only the most basic archetypes in anyone’s chart.
  • We will be using Traditional Astrology as our base, not Modern.
  • This is for fun. We are most definitely not going deep.

Ready to dive in? Then let’s chat about Ridge Forrester, shall we?

Ridge B&B

Recently, Bold & Beautiful‘s Ridge made the decision to take his father, Eric, off life support. Eric had given him power of attorney, so it was his decision to make. However, it wasn’t a very popular one with the rest of the family, let alone Eric’s significant other, Donna. But Ridge stuck to his guns, declaring he knew best what his father wanted.

Regular viewers know this wasn’t exactly the first time Ridge has deemed himself the smartest person in the room while ignoring the arguments of others.

But it might not be all Ridge’s fault. It — like Brooke — could be his “destiny” as determined by his birthdate of January 28th. That makes him an Aquarius, which is a Fixed Air sign. What does that mean? That his stubborn and rigid outlook could be in the hands of the stars.

In other words, initially rejecting experimental treatment for his father, even though the rest of the family wanted it, was a very Aquarian thing to do.

Being an Air sign also means relating to people from a logical and mental standpoint.

Based on that, some of his other very big, very bad decisions also track. For example, Ridge dumping Brooke — whom he wrongly believed to have called CPS on Thomas — without bothering to  tell her why he was doing so sort of tracks. As does him reuniting with Taylor, only to dump her at the altar once he finally knew all the facts.

Taylor Ridge moment truth B&B

One could argue there was nothing emotional about his actions. Rather, his decision to dump Brooke was based on data — wrong thought it may have been. And when more information came into his possession, he based his next reaction — leaving Taylor at the altar — on that.

Additionally, in Traditional Astrology, Aquarius is ruled by Saturn, which gives Aquarians a seriousness of purpose as well as a life of lesson learning.

Ridge is nothing if not serious. Serious about his family, his career, and perhaps most of all, his being right. While it’s taken far too long for him to learn his lesson about romantic waffling, one might hope that he has finally learned his lesson. (Especially if one’s name happens to be Brooke!) Likewise, his decision not to pull the plug on his dad, consequences be damned, might show that he’s finally learned to give the opinion of others the same respect he demands where his own is concerned

Ridge and Brooke so grateful BB In an interesting side note, both of the actors who have played Ridge — Ronn Moss and Thorsten Kaye — are Pisces. Unlike Aquarians, as a mutable water sign, Pisces are all about emotion, intuition and going with the flow.

Have you noticed if these two actors brought their more emotional Piscean energy to this mental and often stubborn Aquarian character? Before trying to determine if Ridge exhibits more traits of a Pisces or Aquarius, check out the gallery below in which we look at the character’s long, often complicated history!
