Food collected supports the Client Choice Food Pantry
GREENSBORO, N.C. – March 27, 2024 – Greensboro Urban Ministry, a non-profit organization committed to helping residents of Guilford County facing food and/or housing insecurity, will hold their semi-annual Food Drive on Friday, April 12 and Saturday, April 13. The food drive will help replenish the Client Choice Food Pantry for the summer months, when the demand is greater due to the school summer break, which provides food assistance to over 150 households daily.
There is a great need by individuals and families for food assistance due to increasing food and housing costs which are making it difficult for households to afford basic needs.
“Currently, we are serving over 150 families a day in our Client Choice Food Pantry. The upcoming food drive will help to ensure we have enough food to meet the current needs, and the increasing needs by families with children at home from school during the summer months. We are appreciative of the Greensboro community for being in this story of faithful giving with us and enabling our clients to have healthy food choices for themselves and their families,” said Brian Hahne, CEO of Greensboro Urban Ministry.
The food drive will take place at Wal-Mart Neighborhood Markets and Walmart Super Centers (Friday and Saturday), and Food Lion stores (Saturday only) in the Greensboro area. Volunteers will be on-site at participating local grocery stores from 8:00am-6:00pm each day. The lists of participating stores and needed food items, along with a link to donate online, are posted on our website at https://www.greensborourbanministry.org/home/spring-food-drive1
