The famous Ken part in Barbie, which Ryan Gosling played, was also offered to Dan Levy of Schitt’s Creek.
Allison Jones, who was in charge of casting for Greta Gerwig’s Barbie movie, said that he had some other names in mind for people who had Ken-energy besides Ryan.
Allison, for example, had Dan from “Schitt’s Creek,” Ben Platt from “Dear Evan Hansen,” and Bowen Yang from “Saturday Night Live.”
But these artists didn’t want to play the part because they were so sad about the character and didn’t think they could do it.
The casting director for Barbie told Vanity Fair, “They were, I’m not kidding, really bummed they couldn’t do it.”
Some people wanted to play Ken, and there was also a list of stars who could have played Ken’s friend Michael Cera in Barbie.
E! says that Greta Gerwig’s dream movie’s main character, Margot Robbie, always wanted Ryan to play Ken. She would send him gifts every day because of who he was.
Barbie, which stars Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling, is now playing well in theaters all over the world. The movie made more money in its first weekend in the U.S. than Wonder Woman did in hers.
