TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Crunch Fitness hosted a stair climb tribute Wednesday to honor the men and women who rushed into the World Trade Center on 9/11.
Tribute participants climbed as many flights of stairs as possible, but the goal was to climb 110 to symbolize the first responders’ journey into the World Trade Center to save others after the horrific terrorist attack that took almost 3,000 lives.
Natalia Jeffers, a fitness trainer and participant in the challenge said it is imperative to appreciate first responders.
“Anything that goes wrong in the world we have people that are out there fighting for us and being our defense and that just means a lot to me and a lot to our community,” Jeffers said. “We can never know what those first responders and victims were feeling on that day but we can honor them and keep their bravery alive forever.”
Crunch management said they plan to keep the memorial up throughout the week so others can participate in the tribute.
