นายเสริมศักดิ์ พงษ์พานิช รัฐมนตรีว่าการกระทรวงวัฒนธรรม เปิดเผยว่า เมื่อเร็วๆนี้ได้รับรายงานจากสำนักงานปลัดกระทรวงวัฒนธรรมเกี่ยวกับการศึกษาศักยภาพของไทยในการขับเคลื่อนซอฟต์พาวเวอร์ในระดับโลก โดยร่วมมือกับสถาบันบัณฑิตบริหารธุรกิจ ศศินทร์ แห่งจุฬาลงกรณ์มหาวิทยาลัย ดำเนินการสำรวจรสนิยม ความชอบ ทัศนคติ พฤติกรรมที่มีต่อศิลปวัฒนธรรม สินค้าและบริการทางวัฒนธรรมของไทย ในต่างประเทศที่มีศักยภาพจำนวน 12 ประเทศ ใน 7 ภูมิภาคทั่วโลก ได้แก่ จีน มาเลเซีย อินเดีย เกาหลีใต้ ญี่ปุ่น อาหรับเอมิเรตส์ สหราชอาณาจักร เยอรมนี สหรัฐอเมริกา บราซิล แอฟริกาใต้ และออสเตรเลีย ซึ่งเป็นครั้งแรกของประเทศไทยที่มีการศึกษาในเรื่องนี้ โดยจะนำผลการศึกษามาจัดทำแผนการขับเคลื่อนซอฟต์พาวเวอร์ด้วยมิติทางวัฒนธรรมเพื่อพัฒนาเศรษฐกิจและสังคมไทย ‘อาหารไทย’ แชมป์ครองใจคนทั่วโลก ผลการศึกษารสนิยมความชอบเกี่ยวกับวัฒนธรรมไทยของผู้คนทั่วโลก พบว่า วัฒนธรรมไทยที่ชื่นชอบที่สุดคือ อาหารไทยและวัฒนธรรมการกิน รองลงมาคือ เอกลักษณ์ความเป็นไทย อาทิ ประวัติศาสตร์ ทัศนียภาพ ประเพณี การไหว้ รอยยิ้ม ภาษาไทย รวมทั้งศิลปะ หัตถกรรม และสถาปัตยกรรม เช่น วัด พระพุทธรูป…
