ในวันที่ 13 กันยายน 2566 ที่ผ่านมา นายชนนพัฒน์ นาคสั้ว สส.สงขลา เขต 4 พรรคพลังประชารัฐ เปิดเผยว่า กลุ่ม สส.ภาคใต้ โดยมี พล.ต.อ.สุรินทร์ ปานาเร่ สมาชิกสภาผู้แทนราษฎรจังหวัดสงขลา เขต 8 เป็นแกนนำ ได้มีการร่วมหารือ ในประเด็น แนวทางที่จะผลักดันและยื่นญัตติต่อสภาผู้แทนราษฎร ให้มีการถอดนกปรอดหัวโขน (หรือนกกรงหัวจุก) ออกจากสัตว์ป่าคุ้มครอง โดยให้เหตุผลว่าสถานการณ์ปัจจุบันของนกปรอดหัวโขน สามารถเพาะและขยายพันธุ์ได้แล้วในเชิงพาณิชย์ ซึ่งจะไม่ส่งผลกระทบกับปริมาณนกปรอดหัวโขนในธรรมชาติ ซึ่งทางกลุ่ม สส.ภาคใต้ เห็นว่า การถอดออกจากบัญชีสัตว์ป่าคุ้มครอง และส่งเสริมให้เกิดการเพาะเลี้ยง จะทำให้สามารถส่งเสริมอาชีพให้กับประชาชนภาคใต้ได้ รวมทั้งการเลี้ยงนกปรอดหัวโขนยังเป็นวิถีที่สืบทอดกันมายาวนาน และได้รับความนิยม แพร่หลายไปยังพื้นที่อื่น ๆ ทั่วประเทศ และต่างประเทศด้วย ซึ่งที่ผ่าน มีความพยายามที่จะถอดถอนนกปรอดหัวโขนออกจากบัญชีสัตว์ป่าคุ้มครองมาโดยตลอด เช่น เมื่อ ปี พ.ศ. 2565 นางสาวรัชดา ธนาดิเรก รองโฆษกประจำสำนักนายกรัฐมนตรี ในฐานะกรรมการผู้แทนพิเศษของรัฐบาลในการแก้ไขปัญหาจังหวัดชายแดนภาคใต้ เผยในที่ประชุมได้มีการพิจารณาข้อเสนอจากประชาชนในพื้นที่ ที่ต้องการให้ปลดนกกรงปรอดหัวโขนออกจากบัญชีสัตว์ป่าคุ้มครองของกรมอุทยานแห่งชาติ…
