11-year-old Memphian among 4 ‘very young’ boys arrested twice after car thefts, attempted burglary


MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) – The Memphis Police Department announced Thursday afternoon that officers arrested four young boys after an attempted burglary last week who they say were already facing charges in other crimes.

Police say the “repeat offenders” are 11, 12, 13, and 14 years old.

On Sunday, April 7, at 12:17 p.m., officers say they were called to Enterprise Rental Company regarding a stolen rental car. Surveillance video from inside the stolen 2018 Kia Soul revealed the suspects were four “very young juveniles,” according to police.

On May 15, all four were arrested and charged with that theft and the theft of another Kia Soul.

Three days later, officers were called to the Cloud 9 Vape Shop at 2125 Sycamore View Road after an attempted burglary. Police say the same four boys were seen on surveillance video attempting to break into the business.

The kids allegedly attempted to break in using a large rock, causing visible damage to the storefront. They were rearrested and charged with criminal attempted burglary, vandalism, and more counts of car theft.

Police listed their charges as the following:

  • 11-year-old
    • criminal attempted burglary
    • 4 counts of motor vehicle theft
    • vandalism
  • 12-year-old
    • 3 counts of motor vehicle theft
    • criminal attempted burglary
  • 13-year-old
    • criminal attempted burglary
    • 4 counts of motor vehicle theft
    • vandalism
    • and an undisclosed juvenile warrant
  • 14-year-old
    • 3 counts of motor vehicle theft
    • criminal attempted burglary
