The Sagebrush Steppe Land Trust (SSLT) recently worked with landowners in Franklin County, Idaho, to create a new 1,204-acre conservation easement. The easement aims to protect and conserve the land for open space, ranching and wildlife habitat reasons.
“A conservation easement is an agreement between a landowner and a land trust or government entity that’s qualified to hold the conservation easement,” SSLT Executive Director Matt Lucia said. “The easiest way to describe it is it protects or conserves the open space, wildlife habitat and agricultural values in perpetuity.”
