MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) – Just months after 18-year-old Marvin Watkins was charged with killing a woman after losing a dice game, court records show he was rearrested last week for allegedly stealing a car from North Memphis and possessing drugs.
Memphis police say 24-year-old Tatyana Fitzpatrick was shot to death in December when Watkins lost a dice game and angrily fired at his opponents. Police say Fitzpatrick, who was shot multiple times, was an innocent bystander.
Watkins was charged with reckless homicide in Fitzpatrick’s slaying. He was released on a $27,500 bond the next month.

Fast forward to May 14, Memphis police say they witnessed a stolen Subaru Forester pull up to a Raleigh-area corner store. Officers went inside and detained three men, including Watkins.
Police say Watkins was in possession of the Subaru’s key fob, 26.5 grams of marijuana and 206.9 grams of promethazine when he was arrested.
He was booked on charges of vehicle theft and two counts of drug possession.
Records show that a grand jury returned indictments against Watkins for the deadly dice game shooting on Friday.
He is currently being held on a cumulative $275,000 bond. There’s no hearing information at this time.
