2 Teenagers Died in Sledding Accident During Spring Break


On Sunday night, two teenage guys from Illinois died while sledding on a spring break trip to Colorado, according to officials. The 17- and 18-year-old were riding a sled tandem at Copper Mountain Ski Resort when they “launched off a massive snowbank at the bottom of the half pipe,” according to the Summit County Sheriff’s Office. According to the sheriff’s office, the couple “came down hard on the hard ice” and received blunt force trauma. They were declared deceased at the scene. Summit County Sheriff Jaime FitzSimons issued the following statement: “Our thoughts and condolences go out to the families and friends of the individuals involved in this tragic incident.” An investigation is now underway.
