Caitlin Weimar Named To 2024 Becky Hammon Mid-Major Player of the Year watch list
Boston University senior forward Caitlin Weimar was named to the 25-member 2024 Becky Hammon Mid-Major Player of the Year watch list, announced by Her Hoop Stats in late October. This marks Weimar’s first appearance on the watch list. She heads into this season as the 2023-24 Patriot League Preseason Player and Defensive Player of the Year as she averaged a team-leading 15.5 points and 10 boards last season. The reigning Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year recorded 16 double-doubles as she became the second student-athlete in BU program history to average a double-double on the season. She also was named to the All-ECAC First Team, the Patriot League All-Tournament Team, the All-Patriot League First Team, and the Patriot League All-Defensive Team last year.
2022-23 Patriot League Championship MVP Returns for Holy Cross
Holy Cross senior Bronagh Power-Cassidy returns for the Crusaders after being named the Championship MVP last season. The senior helped lead the team to their 12th Patriot League Championship after defeating BU, 66-61 after averaging 20 points, five rebounds and 2.7 assists in the three Patriot League Postseason wins. Power-Cassidy enters the season as a 2023-24 preseason All-League team honoree. Holy Cross returns four of last year’s five starters, including Power-Cassidy as they took the top spot in the preseason poll with 160 points and 16 first-place votes.
2023-24 Patriot League Women’s Basketball Preseason Honors
With 160 points and 16 first-place votes the 2022-23 Patriot League Women’s Basketball Champions, the Holy Cross Crusaders, were selected as the 2023-24 Patriot League women’s basketball preseason favorite. Boston University was second in the preseason poll with 141 points and two first-place votes, followed by Colgate with 121 points. Lehigh received 111 points, followed by American, which garnered 90 points and two first-place votes. Bucknell nabbed 79 points for sixth, followed by Army West Point (69). Lafayette (60), Loyola Maryland (40) and Navy round out the poll with 29 points.
The reigning Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year, BU senior forward Caitlin Weimar was named both the preseason player and defensive player of the year. Weimar also earned a spot on the five-member preseason All-League team after being named to last year’s All-League first team. Joining Weimar on the preseason team are American senior forward Emily Johns, Colgate junior guard Taylor Golembiewski, Holy Cross senior guard Bronagh Power-Cassidy, and Loyola Maryland junior forward Lex Therien.
Patriot League Announces Women’s Basketball Schedule on CBS Sports Network
CBS Sports Network will carry both Army West Point-Navy men’s and women’s basketball doubleheaders. The Mids host the Black Knights on Saturday, Jan. 20 with coverage of the women’s game beginning at 11 a.m. The times will remain the same when Army West Point hosts Navy on Saturday, Feb. 10.
On Monday, January 22, Lehigh will travel to Colgate for a 4 p.m. tipoff on CBS Sports Network. The Boston University at Holy Cross game will be televised on Monday, Jan. 29 at 4 p.m. The Patriot League PenFed Credit Union Women’s Basketball Championship Game will air for the 15th straight season on Sunday, March 17 at noon.

Women’s Basketball Opens 23-34 Season vs Longwood Monday; Season Preview
American returns eleven of its 13 players from last year’s squad including forwards Lauren Stack and Emily Johns, and guards Ivy Bales and Kayla Henning. Women’s Basketball Opens Season at Boston College
The Holy Cross women’s basketball program begins their 2023-24 campaign when they travel to Chestnut Hill to square off against nonconference opponent Boston College on Monday, Nov. 6 at 5 p.m. Last season, Holy Cross (24-9, 13-5 PL) captured the 2023 Patriot League Tournament Championship their 12th tournament championship, the most in the Patriot League and first since 2007. In 2022-23, the Crusaders notched their 23rd 20+ win season in program history and back-to-back 20+ win campaigns for the first time since the 2001-02, and 2002-03 seasons.

Season Preview: Trusting the Process
The Mountain Hawks bring in six newcomers, while graduating five players. This year’s team features 15 players in all, with three seniors, five juniors, three sophomores and four first-years. One of the mantras for Lehigh women’s basketball as of recent has been to share it and shoot it.
