“Design trends in 2024 are all about making homes more cozy and visually interesting,” Thammavong said. She explained that RONA has made it foolproof for homeowners to incorporate this year’s five popular home decor trends into their rooms by offering a wide selection of stylish, budget-friendly items that correspond with each theme.

The five trends – Old Brit CharmQuiet LuxuryHeritageRetro Modern and Dopamine Decor – cater to a wide range of tastes and RONA’s products can be mixed and matched according to individual preferences, Thammavong said. She suggests these star items as starting points to incorporate elements of each look.

Old Brit Charm

This traditional decorating style builds on the Cottagecore theme that has been taking the design world by storm, but emits a more bourgeois, less rustic vibe. Inspired by the Victorian era, Old Brit Charm embraces the beauty of the past, creating calm, romantic spaces that exude character, coziness, and nostalgia. Taking centre stage are natural materials, including dark brown and walnut wood, stone, antique metal, and ceramic, highlighted in decor elements such as pottery and brass accessories, antique gold hardware and light fixtures, floral and oriental motif wool rugs, textured wall coverings, beveled mirrors, and dried flowers and branches.
