2024 Sacramento Sports Hall of Fame Class unveiled


The 2024 inductees into the Sacramento Sports Hall of Fame were announced on Friday. Matt Barnes, James Donaldson, Leon Lee, Nick Johnson and Jamie Whitmore make up this year’s class, voted on by Sacramento area sports fans. Forty-one nominees across 10 different sports were nominated for the ninth annual Sacramento Sports Hall of Fame Induction Celebration. The five athletes who made it through are all decorated in their respective sports. Barnes, who played for the hometown Sacramento Kings, also won an NBA championship with the Golden State Warriors. Whitmore is a six-time national champion and world title-winning XTERRA tri-athlete who also won an ESPY award for best Female Athlete with a Disability. Johnson had a 12-year MLB career and boasted one of the highest on-base percentages in the league. Lee was a dominant baseball player in Japan’s National League, slugging 269 home runs with over 1,400 hits and an 884 RBI. Donaldson was an NBA All-Star while playing for the Dallas Mavericks.
