
A new study shows that pop culture-inspired travel could double in the coming year. Pop culture trips, involves traveling to attend a concert, a “set-jetting” trip to see overseas filming locations or traveling to see a sporting event.
The study of a representative group of 1,000 Americans conducted by the website TripIt, found that 40 percent of the participants were planning on taking a pop culture trips in 2024 compared to 22 percent in 2023.
Music appears to be a large motivator for pop culture travel, with 56 percent of those surveyed planning to travel to attend a music event this year. The other drivers in pop culture travel were sporting events (43 percent); locations from a movie, TV show or book (28 percent); and viral social media locations (16 percent).
The TripIt study showed that younger generations are driving the pop culture travel increase with 59 percent of Gen Zers (those born in the late 1990s) and 58 percent of Millennials (born between the early 1980s and the late 1990s) planning a pop culture trip within the coming year.

Festivals like Coachella and Lollapalooza are also popular specially among Gen Zers (56 percent) and Millennials (60 percent).
And pop culture travel does not disappoint, with most travelers surveyed – 94 percent – who went on a pop culture trip stating their trip lived up to the hype.
