The Trailseeker 2026 becomes the second electric vehicle in Subaru’s lineup, joining the Solterra.
-
It offers an estimated driving range of 420 kilometres.
-
It is both longer and taller than the Solterra.
At the New York Auto Show, Subaru reaffirmed its commitment to electrification by introducing an updated Solterra version, followed by the world premiere of the all-new Trailseeker 2026.

A Fully Electric SUV
Built on Subaru’s e-SGP platform, the 2026 Trailseeker features dual electric motors—one on each axle—delivering a combined output of 375 horsepower.
The Trailseeker’s 74.7-kWh battery, based on preliminary figures shared by the automaker, enables an estimated range of about 420 kilometres. Charging capability peaks at 150 kW, and it is fitted with the North American Charging Standard (NACS) port.
Subaru also confirmed the new electric SUV will be able to tow up to 1,500 kilograms.

Like an Electric Outback
At first glance, the Trailseeker resembles an electrified version of the Subaru Outback. However, despite being 150 millimetres longer and 25 millimetres taller than the Solterra and offering a larger cargo area, Subaru still classifies it as a compact SUV.
The official images show that the Trailseeker features several rugged design cues. It can be equipped with either 18- or 20-inch wheels. Black plastic cladding is prominent across the bumpers, wheel arches, and side sills. The vehicle’s ground clearance is 210 millimetres, matching that of the 2024 and 2026 Solterra.

Inside, the Trailseeker features a 14-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a centre console equipped with dual wireless charging pads.
Subaru will announce Canadian pricing closer to the Trailseeker’s market launch. The brand has not yet confirmed how many trim levels will be available in Canada.
The 2026 Subaru Trailseeker will be built in Japan and is expected to arrive in Canadian dealerships in early 2026.
