The 2026 Volkswagen Tiguan Turbo Highline R-Line gets a higher-output version of the 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder engine.
-
It now produces 268 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque.
-
That’s an increase of 67 horsepower and 51 lb-ft over the regular version.

Even before the third generation of the Tiguan hits the Canadian market, Volkswagen introduced a more powerful, performance-oriented version at the New York Auto Show. The German automaker unveiled the 2026 Tiguan Turbo Highline R-Line, the most upscale and performance-focused Tiguan trim.
More Performance from the 2.0L Turbo Engine
Like other Tiguan models, the Turbo Highline R-Line is powered by the EA888 turbocharged 2.0L four-cylinder engine. However, output in this version is significantly increased—268 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque, up from the standard engine’s numbers by 67 hp and 51 lb-ft.
Hybrid VW Tiguan and Atlas Hybrids Likely Coming, Long Wait Expected
The performance boost comes from a larger turbocharger, a revised compression ratio, and internal engine upgrades, including stronger pistons, reinforced connecting rods, and a nitride crankshaft. The fuel injection system also operates at a higher pressure for improved efficiency and responsiveness.
Power is delivered through an eight-speed automatic transmission, and as with other Tiguan models, 4Motion all-wheel drive is standard.

Visually, this top-of-the-line trim stands out with its 20-inch wheels, further emphasizing its sporty character.
The 2026 Volkswagen Tiguan Turbo Highline R-Line is set to arrive in Canada this fall. Pricing will be announced closer to launch.
