24th Annual Children’s Arts Festival set for February

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KFVS) – The 24th Annual Children’s Arts Festival is taking place at the Arts Council of Southeast Missouri in Cape Girardeau from Friday, February 2 to Saturday, February 24.

Gallery hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The festival showcases visual and literary art pieces from over 20 regional schools.

To kick off the festival, the Arts Council of Southeast Missouri is set to celebrate the exhibit with the First Friday Art Walk from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 2.

Organizers say there will be live music from students of SEMO Music Academy and Shivelbine’s Music School and there will be several additional surprises.

Vicki Bean will be this year’s judge of the event.

Organizers say winners will be selected from a variety of categories and their work will be featured at Fine Arts Education Day at the Capitol Rotunda, in the offices of Holly Rehder and Jason Bean, in Cape Girardeau’s City Hall Building, Scout Hall, DAEOC of Sikeston and more.

Those unable to attend the exhibition in person can view the gallery online here.
