
LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) – The crash Wednesday afternoon on I-210 left three people dead, according to Lake Charles Police.
Officers said just before 4:30 p.m., James Labove, 46, of Sulphur, was traveling westbound on 210 near Cove Lane in a Chevrolet Malibu when his vehicle struck the rear of another car, an SUV driven by Race Hindman, 34, of Lake Charles, who was also traveling west.
After hitting the SUV, Labove’s Malibu traveled through the center median and struck a Volkswagen Taos that was eastbound on 210. The driver of the Volkswagen was 39-year-old Derrick Dupre, of Sulphur, and Lisa Burnworth, 38, of Sulphur, was sitting in the passenger’s seat.
Labove died at the scene of the accident.
Dupre and Burnworth were transported to a local area hospital, where they later died.
Sergeant Larry Moss said the investigation into the crash is ongoing.
