34th Annual Art in the Village at Legacy Village starts May 31

The 34th annual Art in the Village with Craft Marketplace will return to Legacy Village from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. May 31 at 25001 Cedar Road in Lyndhurst. The event will continue from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. June 1.

Presented by Howard Alan Events, a Florida-based producer of juried art shows, Art in the Village will feature over 100 artists and artisans and their artwork. Each piece of artwork – which vary across mediums such as jewelry, paintings, photography and more – is selected to be showcased at the free event by a panel of judges, according to a news release.

Dawn Blattel, an Ohio ceramicist and educator at Wooster City Schools is one of the many artists who will be featured at the event. An active member in the National Art Education Association and the Ohio Art Education Association, Blattel takes inspiration from her students’ works when creating her ceramic glaze art.

Strongsville fine art photographer Rick Deal will also be featured at the event. Deal began his career working with photos at an ad agency, but a trip to the Carolinas inspired him to become a professional landscape photographer, the release said.

Tracy McCarty, an artist in Peninsula, will showcase her watercolor artwork at the event. Formally trained as a nurse, McCarty decided to be a full-time artist after a creative challenge brought to her by her daughter, according to the release.

A separate craft marketplace will also be held with products such as handmade soaps, candles, green market wares and practical artistry, according to the release.
