More than 40 tennis players gathered together last weekend for the 47th annual Gary Haugen Memorial Tennis Tournament. Participants came from as far away as Colorado Springs to participate in the China Lake Tennis Club’s scholarship fundraising event. The participants had a calm but warm day on Saturday and then had to contend with gradually increasing winds on Sunday that reached 18 mph gusting to 28 mph at the end of play in the afternoon.

Former Haugen Scholarship winner (2012) Max Higa returned to Ridgecrest to successfully defend his Men’s A Singles title for the 5th straight year. The Mixed A Doubles Consolation Championship was an All-Haugen affair, as Sharon Haugen and son Gunnar Haugen defeated Stacey (Haugen) Platt and her brother Erik Haugen.
