Established in 2018, the Kamaladevi Chattopadhyay NIF Book Prize is an annual award which is given to the best work of non-fiction writing about Independent India’s history. From a longlist of 10 books, a shortlist of five books for Kamaladevi Chattopadhyay NIF Book Prize 2023 was announced on November 20. The jury for this year’s Book Prize include political scientist Niraja Gopal Jayal (Chair of the Book Prize), historian Srinath Raghavan, columnist-writer Navtej Sarna, lawyer Rahul Matthan, columnist-writer Yamini Aiyar, and entrepreneur Manish Sabharwal.

The winner of this year’s Kamaladevi Chattopadhyay NIF Book Prize will be announced on December 1, 2023. The winner will be awarded INR 15 lakhs and a citation.
