Chantrel Clayton, senior, Vashon
Pumped in a team-best 16.1 points per game last season to guide Vashon to the Class 4 state championship, the first for the girls program. Also led Wolverines with 78 steals. Passed the 20-point plateau eight times. The 5-foot-7 guard connected on 10 of 11 shots, including all four 3-point attempts, in a 60-30 over Centralia in Mascoutah Holiday Tournament. The 5-foot-6 guard, who played her first two seasons at Cardinal Ritter, has signed with the University of Illinois-Chicago.

The 5-foot-8 combo guard led the Rockets to the Class 1A state championship with a scoring average of 19.2 points per game. Hit 47 percent from the field and 43 percent from 3-point range. Scored in double figures in all 38 games, leading team to a 34-4 record. On Feb. 1, she tallied 37 points in a 60-50 win over Mater Dei, the Class 2A champion. Returning first team all-state selection scored a career-high 41 points Nov. 25 in a 67-51 victory against Mount Vernon.

A key cog in the Redbirds’ school-record 32-win campaign, which included a share of the Southwestern Conference title. The lightning-quick 5-foot-3 guard averaged 12.7 points and hit 82 percent (69 of 95) from the free-throw line. Led the team in assists (164) and steals (131). Helped Alton win its first 24 games of the season. Had 12 steals in 49-36 win over Mater Dei on Nov. 19, 2022. A second-team all-state selection by Illinois Basketball Coaches Association.
Jordan Speiser, Lutheran St. Charles basketball

Helped guide the Cougars to a Class 5 state championship, the second title in school history. The 6-foot-1 in winger missed the first month of the season with injuries before charging back to average 16.5 points and 7.4 rebounds. Scored a season-best 29 points in a 71-50 win over defending state champion West Plains in a state semifinal. First team all-state selection by Missouri Basketball Coaches Association.
Allie Turner, John Burroughs
Allie Turner, senior, John Burroughs
The 5-foot-8 forward averaged 16.3 points per game as the Bombers won 26 of 30 contests. Hit 60 percent (105 for 175) from 3-point range and drilled at least two triples in 26 of 29 games. Also led the team with 131 assists. Helped Bombers win Class 4 state championship in 2022. Signed to attend Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington. Had 24 points, seven rebounds and five assists in season-opening victory against perennial power Rock Bridge.
