Earlier this year, it was only 20-year-old Carlos Alcaraz‘s thought that Djokovic was the beast on the court. But now the 24-time Grand Slam champion affirmed the young Spanish remark by talking about what ignited the fire inside him to get into the beast transformation mode.

Novak Djokovic discusses his beast transformation

This year, the 36-year-old Serbian tennis player was not only unbeatable; he kept his opponents on their toes while giving a tough competition in every tournament in which he participated. Recently, in an interview with CBS News, he talked about how facing the next generation of players has awakened the beast inside him.

He said,  “I don’t know if that sounds good to be honest. But yeah, I think the young guys who are very hungry and very inspired to play their best tennis against me is an additional motivation. I think they kind of awaken a beast in me.”

The world’s number-one-ranked tennis player claimed that the way the younger generation has the urge to compete and prevail in competitions is what has kept him motivated to stand all against them. While he had a bit of doubt about being called the beast of the tennis circuit, it’s the younger generation that has brought the huge transformation into the Serb’s life.

When Alcaraz called out Djokovic as a ‘Beast’

The Spaniard split against him in the Wimbledon final this year and also got an opportunity to see his rise closely. After Wimbledon, in a conversation with tennis.com, the 20-year-old tennis sensation talked about how Djokovic is just built differently from Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal.

He stated, “He’s complete guy, really complete player. He’s amazing. He does nothing wrong on the court. Physically he’s a beast. Mentally he’s a beast. Everything is unbelievable for him.” As someone who has watched the Big 3 on television growing up, he highlighted that everything the Serbian tennis player has been through is just amazing. In addition, he stated that the 24-time Grand Slam champion has practically no weakness on the tennis court.
