ST. CLAIR SHORES (WWJ) – An investigation is underway after a young child was hit and killed by a car at Blossom Heath Park in St. Clair Shores on Tuesday.

Police officials have not released many details about the incident, but tell WWJ a 7-year-old was killed Tuesday afternoon at the park, near the waterfront in the area of Revere Street and Jefferson Avenue.

One car was involved in the crash that killed the child, according to St. Clair Shores police.

It was not immediately clear whether the incident happened in the park or in the parking lot. Officials didn’t say exactly when the incident happened.

Authorities did not say whether anyone was in custody.
