712 Nutrition readies for new location

SIOUX CENTER—Construction is set to wrap up on soon for 712 Nutrition owner Danielle Abbe to move the business to a new location in the new year.

She opened her business June 1, 2020, in the MJ’s Sinclair building at 1801 S. Frontage Road in Sioux Center, and in the last three and a half years, she’s enjoyed providing customers with Herbalife branded products, a company that specializes in diet and nutrition items that include meal replacement shakes, energizing metabolism boosting teas, protein bars, iced coffee and protein ice pops, among other things.

The new home for 712 Nutrition will be in the west end of the Doelman Financial building at 15 Second St. SW, just south of downtown Sioux Center. Although the phone number will remain 712-722-2712, the business’s hours will become 7 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday and 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday.

Work continues at the new location for 712 Nutrition at 15 Second St. SW. The new layout will be more conducive for studying and hanging out, with the business to move in once work is complete in late January.

Abbe does not have a firm moving date set but expects it to occur sometime in late January once work at her new location is complete. She encouraged people to follow her business’s Facebook page for updates, including information on a grand reopening tentatively scheduled for Feb. 1.

“I’m most excited for the new layout. It’s the same square footage, but it will be a different layout that will be more conducive to having people come study and hang out, relax instead of just come and go,” Abbe said. “One thing I’m looking forward to in my new space is having little events. I’ll probably partner with Dawn Maassen to do some kids nights and have crafts where parents can come hang out, drop their kids off and do a craft and have something healthy. It’s going to be a good time. It’ll be more of a community atmosphere than just coming in and leaving. You’ll get to know more people and see some new faces.”

In the meantime, she invited people to continue to check out the themed weekly menu offerings. To celebrate New Year’s Eve, last week’s menu featured such flavors as Ball Drop, which is a lime, watermelon and blue blast tea, and Poppin Bottles, which is a lime, green apple and cherry tea.

“Every week, it changes. Some people come in and look forward to the weekly menu and pick something new each week,” she said.

The need for a new location comes after MJ’s Sinclair owner Jamie Van Ravenswaay of Sioux Center sold the building to Oscar Leon of Sioux Center, who owns the neighboring Nuevo Vallarta Grocery. With the sale underway, Leon plans to remodel the building to expand his business, work that will take down the interior wall of 712 Nutrition that separates it from the rest of the building.

As she looks forward to the completion of her new store location, Abbe expressed her thanks for the support she’s received since opening.

“This space has treated us extremely well and Jamie has treated us even better. We can’t be more thankful for this spot. It’s treated us well, and we’ve grown tremendously,” she said. “It’s become more than I thought it would be and we’ve been able to impact some lives. That was our main goal: Impact lives and create a healthier community by having a healthy option for the community of Sioux Center.”
