8 IP children receive learning gadgets


EIGHT school children who are members of the Indigenous Peoples (IP) community received modern learning gadgets under the Technology for Economic Development (Tech4Ed) project of the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) on Friday, December 1.

Gov. Jose Enrique Garcia 3rd said DICT Region 3 director Antonio Edward Padre led in the awarding of laptop, headset, printer, router and web camera to each of the eight Aeta children from Barangay Bangcal, upland village in Abucay.

In his message, the governor emphasized the importance of keeping up with the changes in technology by constantly finding ways to hone the skills of the youth in this field.

Garcia also signed a memorandum of agreement with Abucay Mayor Robin Tagle, Padre, DICT provincial head Gerald Calamaan and Bangkal village chairman Amante Inocencio for the Tech4Ed program.

Tagle said that Tech4Ed will help provide digital literacy and community engagements to the IPs.
