81-year-old dies from car crash in Fairfax County

FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. (DC News Now) — The Fairfax County Police Department (FCPD) was investigating what caused a fatal car crash that happened in Fairfax Station early Thursday morning.

Just after midnight, officers headed to Fairfax County Parkway north of the Ox Road intersection for a report of a crash between a 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer and a 2022 Tesla sedan.

So far, detectives believe the driver of the Trailblazer, 81-year-old Sidney Brooks, was driving northbound on Fairfax County Parkway in the southbound lanes when the Tesla hit him head-on in the southbound lanes.

Brooks was taken to a hospital for treatment, where he later died.

The Tesla driver was also taken to the hospital but his injuries were not considered life-threatening.

Detectives did not think alcohol was a factor but were investigating to determine if speed was.

Anyone with information is asked to call (703) 280-0543.
