83-year-old dies after 2-car crash in Murrells Inlet, coroner says


MURRELLS INLET, SC (WMBF) -A man is dead after a two-car crash in Murrells Inlet Thursday afternoon.

The crash happened around 3 p.m. on Wood Thrush Drive near Highway 17 Bypass. South Carolina Highway Patrol said a Jeep Wrangler was traveling west on Wood Thrust Drive when a Chevrolet pickup truck was heading north on Highway 17 Bypass. The driver of the Wrangler crashed into the pickup.

The driver of the pickup truck was not injured, the Wrangler driver was taken to the hospital.

Horry County Coroner’s Office said the driver of the Wrangler, 83-year-old Michael Hanchulak, from Murrells Inlet, died at an area hospital from injuries sustained in the crash.

South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating.
