Tickets are still available for the Davis Musical Theatre Company’s annual New Year’s Eve event.

Community members are invited to delight in a showing of “Seussical” before enjoying a full buffet dinner catered by Ludy’s of Woodland.

The dinner will include a full turkey dinner with all the fixings, a tri-tip carving station, pasta alfredo and marinara, salad, rolls, dessert and a midnight toast with champagne or Martinelli’s.

Drinks will be available for purchase from the bar. After the performance, the live DJ will be playing music for dancing until just before midnight when champagne, sparkling cider and party favors are provided for greeting the new year. After the singing of “Auld Lang Syne,” music for dancing will resume.

“Seussical” is a contemporary re-imagining of Dr. Seuss’ works, weaving togethering many of his most famous stories and characters.

“The musical creates the witty, wild and whimsical world of Dr. Seuss as it has never been seen before,” according to DMTC’s website. “When chaos erupts in the Jungle of Nool, it will take The Cat in the Hat, Horton the Elephant, Gertrude McFuzz and a gaggle of characters to bring harmony back to their world.”

The event will be held on Dec. 31 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $60 per person.

The Davis Musical Company’s production of “Seussical, the Musical!” will open for its entire run on the main stage on Jan. 5.

The musical comedy is based on the many children’s stories of Dr. Seuss, with most of its plot being based on “Horton Hears a Who!”, “Gertrude McFuzz”, and “Horton Hatches the Egg” while incorporating several other stories.

“The performers on stage portray Horton the Elephant, The Cat in the Hat, Gertrude McFuzz, lazy Mayzie and a little boy with a big imagination – Jojo,” explained a press release from DMTC. “The colorful characters transport us from the Jungle of Nool to the Circus McGurkus to the invisible world of the Whos.”

“Seussical, the Musical!” plays on Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. The show continues through Jan. 28, 2024.

All performances are at the Jean Henderson Performing Arts Center, located at 607 Pena Dr. in Davis. Tickets are $18 general, $16 students & seniors (55 and over) and $14 each for groups of 10 or more.
