Ready To Jazz Up Your Skincare Routine? Here Are Trends That Are Expected To Take Over 2024

The world of skincare is ready to transform as the new year approaches. The year 2023 has made us learn a lot about the new skin trends. While some have passed the test others have just died down. But here we are ready to get some more zing to the skincare culture and make it more glittery.

But which trends from this year will go on into 2024 and what will be the new trends that we can’t wait for? Here are some trends for 2024 as described by experts Chiranjiv Chhabra Director & Chief Dermatologist, at Alive Wellness Clinics:

Niacinamide

Without the flamboyance of some trending ingredients, this humble nutrient quietly works wonders—addressing uneven skin tone, refining pores, and boosting the skin barrier. Unlike some skincare ingredients that might be harsh or irritating, Niacinamide is known for its gentle nature, making it suitable for various skin types, including sensitive skin. Its compatibility with other ingredients allows it to be seamlessly incorporated into diverse skincare routines.

Alt-Retinols

Bid farewell to traditional retinols and welcome the era of alternative retinoids. These are more gentle formulas that are plant-based instead of being derived from vitamin A. Because traditional retinol formulations can be too harsh for many people, these formulas are ideal for people with normal to sensitive skin. Alt-retinols provide similar results as retinol but without the irritation, redness, and dryness. Common forms are bakuchiol and azelaic acid.

Building Collagen Internally

For those seeking a natural path to youthful skin, copper peptides emerge as allies. Topical copper peptides tell the skin to produce more collagen and molecules that will help support the structure of the skin. This results in plumper, bouncier skin. Copper is also anti-inflammatory and can calm redness or acne scars. But it isn’t hydrating enough, so we recommend pairing copper peptides with another moisturizer. Advancements in technology pave the way for innovative skincare treatments. Two noteworthy options, Bio-remodeling, recognized as Profhilo, and Viscoderm Hydrobooster, a hydro stretch therapy, stand out as cutting-edge choices for individuals in search of advanced aesthetic solutions. Distinguished by their utilization of stabilized ultrapure hyaluronic acid, these treatments underscore a shift towards personalized and outcome-oriented skincare, with a primary emphasis on rejuvenation. They stimulate collagen and elastin, attracting water within the deeper layers of the skin.

Snail Mucin

Nature’s secret to hydration lies in snail mucin. Renowned for its moisturizing and regenerative properties, snail mucin much more recently, has become popular in Korean skincare and now has made its way all over the world. It naturally contains skin-benefiting ingredients like glycoproteins, hyaluronic acid, and glycolic acid. The hyaluronic acid is moisturizing, the glycolic acid boosts collagen production and soothes irritation, and the glycoproteins improve the skin’s natural barrier. It also contains copper peptides.

Dr Jaishree Sharad, Director, Skinfiniti Aesthetic Skin & Laser Clinic has also added some skincare trends he thinks will work:

Caffeine

More Than a Morning Pick-Me-UpCaffeine steps out of our mugs and onto our skincare shelves. Recognized for its ability to brighten and de-puff the skin, caffeine has become a key player in eye creams and serums. Caffeine also promotes circulation and decreases inflammation.

Edible Skincare

Nourishment From WithinEdible skincare transcends the conventional. It’s not just about what you apply to your skin but also what you ingest. Emerging trends include protein and collagen-infused beauty bars, beverages, and smoothie powders, as well as microbiome-balancing skincare. Additionally, readily available bone broths, enriched with calcium, are poised to become integral components of beauty regimens, reflecting the evolving world of skincare solutions beyond surface-level treatments.

Skin minimalism

Quality Over QuantityIn a world inundated with skincare options, skin minimalism emerges as a counter-trend. Simplifying routines and emphasizing quality over quantity, this approach advocates for a mindful and minimalist skincare regimen, ensuring that each product serves a purpose.

Makeup-Infused Skincare

Where Beauty Meets CareMakeup-infused skincare represents a shift in consumer preferences, emphasizing the desire for multi-functional products that streamline beauty routines. This trend recognizes that skincare and makeup need not be separate entities but can coexist to offer dual benefits. By infusing skincare elements into makeup products, brands are catering to individuals seeking efficiency without compromising on the quality of ingredients.

Nutraceuticals

Bridging Nutrition and SkincareThe union of nutrition and skincare deepens with the rise of nutraceuticals. These supplements go beyond topical treatments, promising to nourish the skin from within, redefining the concept of beauty supplements. Nutraceuticals, including collagen supplements, omega-3 fatty acids, and a range of antioxidants, are increasingly becoming staples in comprehensive skincare and haircare routines.
