Fashion is the passion of Richmond resident Jacqueline Majors-Milton — and she’s sharing that passion with those less fortunate. Jacqueline has been operating “Beauty to You” for residents around the Houston area since 2014. Beauty to You is a local business that aims to make clients feel beautiful and comfortable for any upcoming event.
“It is about building the client’s self-esteem,” Jacqueline said. “My love for fashion and makeup collaborated with the other part of me that loves helping people.”
The mobile beauty service provides a multitude of styling services for clients for different occasions. The services include makeup artistry, wardrobe styling, and hair design. Jacqueline, a licensed cosmetologist, began her career in Pasadena, Calif., training in a hair salon.
“I have always been attracted to people and their different looks,” Jacqueline said.
After California, she returned to Houston and worked at a Supercuts in downtown Houston. Jacqueline said that the requests for her would result in a three-hour-long wait time.
“I just kept hearing ‘I’d like to wait for Jackie,’” Jacqueline recalled. “It came to a point where everyone in the lobby was waiting for me.”
She then took a hiatus from cosmetology after her son was born. When she eventually reentered the field, she knew she wanted to do something with fashion. Jacqueline came up with an answer that led her to create “Beauty to You.”
“Take the beauty to the people was my answer,” Jacqueline said.
According to Jacqueline, clients provide their clothes and turn to her for styling tips and tricks. In certain cases, she will go shopping with the clients to give them her thoughts. Jacqueline’s steps in creating a look for a client start with assessing their interests and building a rapport.
“I want my clients to feel the sense of being involved,” Jacqueline said. “I like to make sure I give people my undivided attention and the true personal care they need.”
Aside from Beauty to You, Jacqueline spends her time volunteering for multiple organizations, including Texas Ag-Life, the Fort Bend Women’s Center, and the Bridal Extravaganza Show.
“My volunteer work has to be something that matters,” Jacqueline explained.
