HBO confirmed Jesse’s role one day after announcing Kaitlyn Dever as Abby. Jesse will be portrayed by Young Mazino (Netflix’s Beef, SZA’s “Snooze” music video), one of the characters introduced in The Last of Us Part II (2020), as a friend and ally to Joel and Elle.
The Warner Bros. Discovery-run television network shared the news of Mazino taking on the role of Jesse in Season 2 of HBO and Sony Pictures Television’s award-winning post-apocalyptic sci-fi adventure drama television series via X/ Twitter. The team followed up on the post at Naughty Dog, who created the franchise celebrating the casting choice.
Background on Season 2 of the Series and The Last of Us Part II
Season 2 of the live-action adaptation will follow the protagonists after a risky decision to save the younger character’s life. Part II of the video game series finds the characters facing the consequences of these actions, with Ellie and Abby embarking on paralleling vendettas as a result of their father figures being killed.
In the hours and days to come, more news regarding casting for Season 2 of the series may come. So far, we have Pedro Pascal as Joel, Bella Ramsey as Ellie, and Kaitlyn Dever as Abby. Currently, Pascal is recovering from a broken arm. However, he shall recover in time for filming the upcoming season of the series later this year.
Until then, The Last of Us Part II Remastered will be released on January 19th, exclusively (at the time of writing) on PlayStation 5. You can purchase a physical copy of the game via our Amazon Affiliate link!
