Frontrunners for Upcoming Supergirl Film Narrowed Down by DC Executives

DC Studios is scheduled to screen test actors for the highly anticipated film Supergirl. Milly Alcock, Emilia Jones, and Meg Donnelly are among the cast members.

According to rumours, the studio plans to begin showing in the following months.

James Gunn, the studio’s co-boss, will actively participate in the process, as the character may return in DC projects other than Supergirl.

When it comes to Supergirl’s character, the three women have a remarkable portfolio, making them an excellent fit for the role.

Alcock is most recognised for her portrayal of Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen in HBO’s Game of Thrones spinoff House of the Dragon.

Jones is best recognised for her part in the Netflix series Locke & Key and the Oscar-winning film CODA.

Donnelly has voiced Supergirl in the DC animated films Legion of Superheroes and Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths Part One.

When Gunn originally announced the superhero film Supergirl, Woman of Tomorrow, he made comparisons between Superman and Supergirl, saying, “In our series we see the difference between Superman who was sent to Earth and raised by loving parents from the time he was an infant.”

He said, “Supergirl, who was raised on a rock, a chip off Krypton, and watched everyone around her die and be killed in terrible ways for the first 14 years of her life, and then came to Earth when she was a young girl. She’s much more hardcore; she’s not exactly the Supergirl we’re used to seeing.”
