Chelsea Handler hurled shade at her ex-boyfriend Jo Koy during his contentious Golden Globes monologue, which was delivered in front of a room full of Hollywood’s A-Listers, and fans loved it.
While hosting the 2024 Critic’s Choice Awards on Sunday, Handler, 48, took advantage of the opportunity to parody Koy’s controversial monologue, which included attacks at Taylor Swift and the Barbie movie.
As the audience erupted in amusement at the comedian’s quip that she would “toss around” Martin Scorsese like a “little Italian meatball,” she cleverly responded, “Thank you for laughing at that. “My writers wrote it.”
The audience erupted in applause at the hilarious punchline, and fans at home appeared to be just as enthusiastic.
“Of course she had to call him out lmao he BOMBED and she’s a legend,” one fan commented on Instagram. “I would have been disappointed if she didn’t.”
Another person joked, “I’m sure Jo Koy can take a joke, right?” While someone else pointed out that they “called it,” Handler would not have passed up the opportunity to mock her ex.
As viewers are aware, Jo Koy appeared to throw his writers under the bus after his quips at the Golden Globes last week failed to resonate with the audience or online reviewers.
In an apparent attempt to recover face, Koy commented on his failed jokes, “Some I wrote, some other people wrote.”
