Director Christopher Landon is planning his first project since his surprise exit from Scream VII late last year.
The filmmaker is now in talks to helm Big Bad, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
According to the publication, Lionsgate is in early negotiations to land the package based on Chandler Baker’s short story.
Landon announced his departure from the Scream franchise after main star Melissa Barrera was sacked and Jenna Ortega left the next day.
Landon, who was named director of the latest installment in August 2022, made the announcement three months later.
“I guess now is as good a time as any to announce I formally exited Scream 7 weeks ago,” Landon wrote at the time. “This will disappoint some and delight others. It was a dream job that turned into a nightmare. And my heart did break for everyone involved. Everyone. But it’s time to move on.”
Big Bad, produced by Todd Lieberman and Hidden Picture, will follow a family who must survive a night in an isolated farmhouse while werewolves feed on them, according to THR.
They appeared in the horror collection Creature Feature, which also featured stories by Joe Hill and other authors. Aside from that, no further details about the project have been revealed.
