CCSD hires Angela McLaughlin as new executive director nutrition service

The Charleston County School District announced Friday the hiring of Angela McLaughlin as executive director of nutrition services.

The hiring of McLaughlin is to replace Walter Campbel, the former executive director, who retired in December after 17 years in the school district. McLaughlin has served as the director of nutrition services at the school district since 2019.

McLaughlin started working at Charleston schools as a food service manager in 2011, where she oversaw meal preparation, inventory, and production tracking.

She also managed multiple special projects for the department, including Early Head Start, Head Start, and programs like them.

In 2013, she was promoted to the role of Nutrition Services Officer, where she managed the Child and Adult Care Program, At-Risk Afterschool Meal Program, Fresh Fruits and Vegetable Program, Department of Defense Commodity Fund and Nutrition Services recruitment and hiring.
