Hogs Sweep Doubleheader Against Bradley to Open Season


FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Arkansas women’s tennis team (2-0) started its season off on a high note with two sweeps over Bradley (0-2) in a doubleheader on Saturday at Billingsley Tennis Center.

In the opening match, the Razorbacks took the early lead with a doubles sweep to claim the first point. Graduate Kelly Keller and sophomore Anet Koskel teamed up for the first time this spring to earn a 6-0 win on court three, while seniors Morgan Cross and Indianna Spink cruised to a 6-1 victory in the top spot. Senior Lenka Stara and junior Grace O’Donnell’s match went unfinished with the Arkansas duo ahead 5-2.

Keller started out strong again in singles with a dominant 6-0, 6-0 win at the No. 1 position for the Hogs. In her first appearance as a Razorback, Koskel quickly followed with a 6-0, 6-1 victory on court six, while Spink clinched the match for Arkansas after a 6-1, 6-0 win at the No. 2 position.

The Hogs carried their momentum over into the second match, grabbing the doubles point again with victories on courts one and three. Cross and Spink struck first in the top spot with a 6-2 victory, followed by a 6-3 win from Keller and Koskel to take the first point. Stara and O’Donnell’s match went unfinished with the Razorback duo ahead 5-4.

In singles play, sophomore Katie Ferguson made her Arkansas debut on court six, claiming a 6-1, 6-0 victory, while Stara earned a 6-0, 6-3 win at the No. 2 position. Keller and O’Donnell finished their matches simultaneously, collecting straight-set victories to close out the sweep for the Hogs.

The Razorbacks continue their season in Ann Arbor, Mich., as they travel to face Purdue at the ITA Kickoff Weekend on Friday, January 26.
