LOGAN, Utah – Utah State women’s tennis team lost to Idaho State 5-2 in its opening match of the 2024 competition season here at the Sports Academy & Racquet Club on Saturday.
The Bengals earned the doubles point with a 6-4 win on court one and a 6-2 victory on court three.
The Aggies scored their two points from singles play. Graduate senior Zeynep Naz Ozturk posted a straight-sets win against ISU’s Asem Shoybek at the No. 2 spot (6-2, 6-4), and junior Indya Nespor swept Sydney Morris at the No. 5 spot (6-2, 6-4).
Senior Lisa Küng fell in a three-set match at the No. 1 spot (6-4, 6-7 (3), 1-6). Freshman Ana Paula Chavez Sanchez lost in straight sets at the No. 3 spot (3-6, 3-6). Freshman Niyati Kukreti lost in straight sets at the No. 4 spot (6-7 (5), 3-6). And sophomore Magdalena Nunez Pureco lost in three-sets at the No. 6 spot (6-4, 5-7, 0-1 (7)).
