LAWRENCE (KSNT) – Jayhawk head tennis coach Todd Chapman is staying in Lawrence for three more years, but his goals remain the same.
“We still want to be a consistent, top-20 team in the country,” Chapman said. “We want the chance to play for Big 12 championships. We want to be a team that’s on the national scene, and has a chance to make the NCAA tournament every year and advance.”
Chapman led KU tennis to the NCAA Tournament in 2023 for the sixth time in his tenure, leading to his extension. The new contract has a $210,000 base salary with a three-months’ salary bonus for a national championship, along with other incentives.
“It’s just good confirmation that the value is felt on both sides,” Chapman said. “The vision you have as a coach is mirrored by the vision [Travis Goff] has, and the administration has in our program. I think it just gives you a sense of confidence that you’re on the same page with your boss.”

“We have a good team,” Chapman said. “We have good depth. That’s the thing we’re fortunate with.”
The teams hosts its first spring match Feb. 11 against Old Dominion.
