Two Actresses Compete for the Part of Supergirl in ‘Superman: Legacy’

The role of Supergirl in James Gunn’s Superman: Legacy is split between two women.

Milly Alcock and Meg Donnelly were narrowed down in screen tests held on Tuesday in Atlanta, according to sources cited by The Hollywood Reporter. DC Studios executives James Gunn and Peter Safran were also present during screen tests.

Alcock is most recognised for her role as Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen in HBO’s Game of Thrones spin-off House of the Dragon.

Meanwhile, Donnelly, who appeared in the Disney Channel’s smash musical franchise Zombies, voiced the role in recent and upcoming DC animated films.

Supergirl is an important aspect of the new DC universe created by Gunn and Safran. In October 2022, the filmmaker and producer were appointed co-chairs and co-CEOs of DC Studios to reset and lead the company’s film, television, and animation initiatives.

Supergirl will also have her own film, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, after being introduced in Superman: Legacy.

The picture is still under development and will be based on Tom King’s comic book mini-series, which was published in 2021 and 2022.
