KC Current to open CPKC Stadium on national television


KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – The Kansas City Current will open their historic stadium in front of a national audience in March.

ESPN announced on Thursday afternoon that the Current will host Portland Thorns FC on March 16 at 11:30 a.m. CT. The game will air on ABC, ESPN+ and ESPN Deportes.

CPKC Stadium will be the first purpose-built stadium for a women’s professional sports team. The stadium will host a second match on ESPN platforms when the Current host Angel City on Saturday, March 30, on ESPN and ESPN+.

Season tickets for the opening year at CPKC Stadium are sold out. CPKC Stadium is expected to seat 11,500 people for soccer matches.
