Kelly Clarkson Discusses Dating a Year After Divorce

After her split from Brandon Blackstock in 2022, Kelly Clarkson is not in a hurry to get back together with someone.

During an Instagram Live on Friday, the first American Idol talked about her love life in an honest way.

“Do I have a boyfriend? No! And not looking,” Clarkson told her 7.1 million fans to make it clear. “You know why? I love being single!” she said.

The mother of two said that she has “a lot going on,” including “two kids, two dogs, three rabbits, a hamster, and multiple jobs.”

She also talked about her fight with Blackstock when she said, “You know, you think you’re going to spend the rest of your life with somebody, and you don’t. That’s hard to start over.”

The Since You’ve Been Gone singer, who is 41, and her ex-manager, who is 46, got divorced in 2020 because they couldn’t get along. The two fought over who would get custody of their two kids, a nine-year-old girl named River and a seven-year-old boy named Remington. In 2022, Clarkson won main custody of the kids.

After her split, the singer, who has won five Emmys, joked on The Kelly Clarkson Show that she would be “single forever” because she never sees the “red flags” in her partners.

But the host of a daily show has thrown herself into being single, telling E! News in June, “I’m in a great place. But you know, I’ve lost a bit of me, like in my previous relationship and I love having her back.”
