NEWTOWN, Pa. (January 26, 2024) – The MAC Freedom released its preseason coaches’ poll Friday and the Stevens Institute of Technology men’s tennis team was picked first, the league office announced. The poll was conducted among the conference’s seven head coaches.
The three-time defending MAC Freedom champion, Stevens received first-place votes from all six opposing head coaches to amass 36 points and earn the preseason favorite designation. Lebanon Valley, who is new to the MAC Freedom this season, ranked second with 27 points, with DeSales (25), FDU-Florham (22) and King’s (17) rounding out the top five.

Stevens went 15-7 one year ago, including a perfect 7-0 mark in league play, extending the program’s regular-season conference winning streak to 24. The Ducks blanked fourth-seeded King’s and second-seeded FDU-Florham to win the MAC Freedom crown and run their streak of consecutive conference titles to 13. Following the conference tournament, then-junior Aashi Kulakarni was named the MAC Freedom’s Player of the Year, while Steve Gachko received his 13th Coach of the Year honor. Eight players were named to one of the two All-MAC teams, while one more received an honorable mention.
The Ducks advanced to the NCAA Tournament, downing Salem State 5-0 in the opening round.
In the fall portion of the 2023-24 campaign, the Ducks totaled 13 wins at the ITA regional tournament and another nine at the Haverford/Swarthmore Invite.
