AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts tennis returned to the courts for the 2024 spring season, falling 5-2 to Boston College on Saturday afternoon at the Bay Road Tennis Center.
 
BC picked up the doubles point with wins on courts No. 3 and No. 2. On court No. 3, Muskan Mahajan and Nada Dimovska of Boston College took down duo Mariya Krasakova and Polina Akimova, 6-2, to knot up the doubles competition at 1-1, after partners Danielle Hack and Thamonpan Jonglertrakul defeated Stephanie Sanchez and Sophia Edwards, 6-1 on court No. 1. Boston College’s Marice Aguiar and Natalie Eordekian took down Ella Faessler and Amelia Tye at court No. 2 with a 6-4 win.  
 
In singles play, Massachusetts earned a point at court No. 6 by default to take make it a 1-1 match. Amelia Tye gave the Minutewomen a 2-1 lead, after downing her Eagles’ opponent, Sanchez, 6-3, 6-3 at court No. 4. Eordekian of Boston College tied up the contest again with a 6-3, 6-3 win of her own over Faessler at No. 2 singles, before Mahajan helped the Eagles to the lead, defeating Jonglertrakul 6-2, 6-3, at court No. 3. BC picked up two more points, first at No. 1 singles, in a three-set match against Aguiar of Boston College and Hack, while clinching the match point at court No. 5, as Dimovska of BC defeated Krasakova.
 
UMass is back in action on Sunday, January 28, as the team heads to Providence, Rhode Island, to take on Providence at 4:15 p.m.
