Wappingers Falls, N.Y. – The Fordham women’s tennis team picked up its first win of the spring season with a 6-1 decision over Marist College at the Cross Court Tennis Club on Sunday.
 
The match opened with the Red Foxes taking the doubles point, winning two of the three doubles matches. Demi Jhaveri and Lorraine Bergmann got things started with a 60-1 win over Akanksha Sreenivas and Ellen Zureick at third doubles but the Rams couldn’t clinch the point, falling 7-5 at first doubles and 7-6 at second.
 
Fordham won the match by sweeping all six singles matches, all in straight sets. Bergmann and Jhaveri completed a perfect day with wins at third and sixth singles, respectively.
