JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) – The Millsaps Women’s Basketball team has been cooking so far this season. The Majors are 18-3, including 9-1 in conference play. The key to their success is home-court advantage. The majors are a perfect 11 and 0 at the Hangar Dome this season. Last year, they were 12 and 1 at home. The Majors are 72 and 23 at home since head Coach Justin LeBlanc took over in 2016.
Coach LeBlanc said, ” The Hangar Dome is a tough place to play. It gets loud in here with the fans we have in here and the acoustics in here, it’s just a different place for teams to shoot the basketball. Our girls buy into it and they have a lot of confidence when we play at home, we get a good crowd with students coming out and supporting us, it’s just a hard place to play. It’s tough to win games on the road anywhere, but I think we’ve got something a little special here in the Hangar Dome.”
Junior guard, Hayley Franklin, said ” I think that affects the game a lot, as far as the pickups and downfalls, and stuff like that. But they play into the energy of our team, rather than us creating our own energy.”
