Funny Guy Adam Sandler Receives the Mark Twain Award for American Humor

Adam Sandler will get the Mark Twain Award for American Humor in honor of his 30-year career in comedy. The actor and comedian are best known for his stay on Saturday Night Live, his successful parody songs, and his career, which features both tragic and funny performances.

In a news release, Deborah F. Rutter, president of the Kennedy Center, stated that Adam Sandler’s films, songs, and stint as a fan-favorite cast member on Saturday Night Live have thrilled audiences for almost three decades. “Adam’s characters have caused us to laugh and cry from laughter. I anticipate a night unlike any other, filled with laughter, as we honor his career at a ceremony that is certain to attract the finest in comedy.”

Sander began his career as a stand-up comedian, earning a name for himself by writing and performing risqué parody songs. But, he became a household figure after starring in a series of successful 1990s comedies, including Billy Madison, Happy Gilmore, and Big Daddy.

Since then, he has continued to feature in comedies while occasionally surprising audiences with acclaimed dramatic performances in films such as Punch Drunk Love and Uncut Gems.

During a CNN-broadcast ceremony, Sandler will accept the prize on March 26 at 8 p.m. ET.

Jon Stewart and Comedy Chappelle are additional recent winners.
