MITCHELL — The 15th annual Dakota Wesleyan University Culver’s Classic high school basketball games are set for Feb. 9 and 10 at the Corn Palace, with 17 games lined up over two days.
Friday’s girls classic begins with Bridgewater-Emery and Jones County at 10 a.m., followed by Potter County and Philip at 11:30 a.m. McCook Central/Montrose and Viborg-Hurley will play at 1 p.m., followed by Dell Rapids St. Mary and Corsica-Stickney. The second half of the day’s games included Hamlin and Howard at 4 p.m., with Freeman and Class B No. 4 Wall at 5:30 p.m. The night concludes with St. Thomas More and Mount Vernon/Plankinton at 7 p.m. and Class A No. 2 Flandreau against Class B No. 5 Lyman at 8:30 p.m.
In the boys event on Saturday, the lineup starts with McCook Central/Montrose and Corsica-Stickney facing off in the opening game at 9 a.m., followed by Freeman against Lower Brule at 10:30 a.m. and Centerville taking on Philip at noon. The 1:30 p.m. contest will be Bridgewater-Emery and Platte-Geddes, followed by St. Thomas More and Mount Vernon/Plankinton at 3 p.m. in a rematch from last season’s DWU Classic and Class A state tournament, with both matchups won by STM.
Gregory and Dell Rapids St. Mary will converge at 4:30 p.m., followed by Parkston and Howard at 6 p.m. The final two games of the day will be ranked matchups, with Class B No. 2 White River taking on Canistota at 7:30 p.m. and Class A No. 2 Hamlin facing Class B No. 1 Viborg-Hurley at 9 p.m.
